A Quick Update

As the deadline is coming ever closer, we have decided to delegate roles within the group in order to maximise our time effectively. Jess has taken on the role of website designer, Odelia is predominantly involved in editing the album cover and I am working on the video. We have finished the first rough edit and are making changes as we continue to gather feedback from fellow students and teachers along the way. We are going to begin colour grading soon, perhaps using the Three-Way Colour Corrector Tool and ProcAmp however we may try and experiment using After Effects to further and develop our technical skill.

Reflections on our second shoot

We did a second shoot in the Seward Studio in order to resolve our 'ceiling issues'. I think it was a good decision and although it was slightly annoying since we could not use the footage we had shot in half term, our experience of  that served as a sort of dress rehearsal. So when it came to doing the second shoot our performance was immediately better and we also had more space to move around so it corrected some other issues we had with the orginal footage e.g shadow problems. See the original footage here:

Reflections on our first shoot

We just finished a 2 day shoot in half term. On the first day we filmed the narrative sequence involving the paint and josh as the stripper. This was a lot of fun and harnessing what we had learnt over the workshop we filmed everything from a variety of different angles so there is choice when it comes to editing. Josh was very reliable as our actor and very professional when it came to acting- he did as directed and did not mind taking his shirt off and getting covered in paint which was good as this what a pretty crucial aspect of the video. (he did however pay me back by tiedying my shower candy pink and black after the shoot). At the end of the first day of shooting we filmed the painting our logo on the wall scene so that we could perform in front of it the following day.

The performance shoot was really enjoyable although we were pretty tired from the previous days filming. However, in a tiny room with very bright lights playing the guitar and rocking out soon woke us up! We decided to film the performance master shot first but after 5 takes our camera op Michael and Chris still thought something was lacking. We decided to plug the camera into a monitor and watch back the footage so we could see for ourselves what we were doing wrong and we immediately noticed how small and static our actions looked on camera. After that we began really exaggerating all of our movements, so much so that I (having never played a guitar in my life and possessing the dexterity of someone with mittens for hands) managed to break two strings, cause my fingers to bleed over the guitar and decorate my hip with a massive purple bruise. Injuries aside after watching back our energy and performance really picked up and overall we got some really great footage.
